Dr. Barakat
Dr. Ami Barakat is very excited and proud to be living and practicing in the Ottawa area. Dr. Barakat has been providing care here at his Stittsville practice 5 days a week since 2004. Previously, he had been providing care in a Pembroke practice where he was associating for over 4 years.
Following undergraduate training at Carleton University, Dr. Barakat graduated with honours from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1999. After graduation, he extended his education and experiences by completing a one year residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal in the Multidisciplinary Dental Residency Program. Residencies are of note for several reasons. First, the practitioner is exposed to a broad spectrum of cases not frequently observed in private practice. Second, the practitioner gains additional experience with the newest in clinical techniques in cosmetic and restorative procedures. Third, the most current of dental materials are utilized and assessed by the residents. Most important, the practitioner has the benefit of providing patient care in consultation and with the assistance of dental and medical specialists.
Dr. Barakat is currently a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Ottawa Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Canadian Association of Cosmetic Dentistry. Through membership in these organizations, as well as participating in many continuing education lectures and seminars, Dr. Barakat is committed to providing the best care available for his patients by remaining abreast of the latest techniques and materials available to dentistry today.
On July 30th, 2007, Dr. Barakat received a Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. This award is one of the most rigorous continuing dental education awards offered today. As a recipient of this award, Dr Barakat has joined an elite group of members of the dental community who understand that great smiles and good oral health for their patients are the result of going above and beyond basic requirements. This award truly distinguishes Dr Barakat from others in the dental community. Dr. Barakat’s passion for creating beautiful smiles is evident by his commitment to the profession.
Dr. Barakat and his team invest their time to thoroughly address all of your concerns and questions. The level of patient education is extremely high and he takes enormous pride in his comprehensive approach to caring for your dental needs.
