Hailey Boyd

Hailey is the most recent dental hygienist to join our team at Dentistry @ Main in January 2008. She was born and raised in Brockville, Ontario and came to the Ottawa region for school in 2005. Hailey graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Algonquin College with honors in 2007.

Being new to the dental field and to our office, Hailey has learned a lot in a short period of time.  She continues to do so by attending regular continuing education courses and lectures. She strives to promote health and provide the greatest of care to her patients in a gentle and caring manner.

In her spare time Hailey enjoys spending time with her friends and family back home in Brockville, reading, being outdoors and watching the Sens!

Laurie Danis

Laurie Danis is Dr. Barakat's Patient Coordinator. She was one of the first to join his team in 2004.

Laurie was born and raised in the Ottawa area. She is a proud mother of two teenaged daughters. Laurie is also living in the Stittsville area.

She went back to college and received her diploma in 2004 for Dental & Medical Administration. She enjoys furthering her knowledge in dentistry through continuing education. Laurie is very proud and dedicated to providing our patients with the best quality and gentle care.

Her goal is to continue to strive for excellence in everything she will do. Laurie is a great team player and motivator. She considers all the team at Dentistry@Main to be a part of her family.

During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking a long walk, going to the movies, and lots of shopping.

Gillian Flower

Gillian Flower is Dr. Barakat's Dental Assistant. She joined his team in January of 2007 after being hired on as a temporary employee.

Although born in Ottawa, Gillian was raised in Virginia where her father and brother still reside. She also lived in Nashville, Tennessee for 2 years and that was where she had her son Matthew.

Gillian graduated from CDI College in July of 2004 with a diploma in Intra-Oral Dental Assisting. She immediately began assisting various dentists in the Ottawa area but now calls Dentistry@Main home. She loves being a Dental Assistant and can't imagine doing any other type of work.

Amanda Harriss

Amanda joined the Dentistry @ Main Team in April of 2006. Born and raised in the small town of Havelock, Ontario, Amanda attended the Norwood District High School. After graduating from High School, Amanda attended Durham College in Oshawa. In 2000, she completed the Dental Assistant Program where she graduated with Honours atop the Deans List.

Family comes first for Amanda, as such she stayed close to home and worked in Campbellford as a dental assistant for 3 years, where her passion and skill for the dental profession grew along with her experience. Amanda's love for life and desire to achieve more helped make the decision to attend Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2003 an easy one. It would be 2 more years in the Dental Hygiene Program before she again graduated with Honours. During her stay in Ottawa for school, Amanda fell in love with the city and so it seemed only natural after graduation to make it her new home.

The dental profession is a continuously changing field and the learning cycle is on-going. To stay ahead of the change Amanda is always trying to improve her skill and knowledge through educational seminars, conferences and courses, always with her patients care as her focus!

Amanda's passion is prevalent in everything she is a part of. She loves spending time with her family and friends and in her own time she stays involved in a few other passions, which include baseball, volleyball, rollerblading, reading and movies, just to name a few of her favorites. She loves the professional and helpful environment that she feels working with Dr. Barakat and the rest of the team at Dentistry @ Main and hopes her stay there will be a long one!

Michelle Nelson

Michelle joined Dr. Barakat's team as a treatment coordinator in April 2007. She grew up in Iroquois Falls, Ontario and has been living in Ottawa for 10 years. She's a dedicated wife and mother to her daughter, Brooke.

Michelle received her diploma in Correctional Service Worker in 1997 at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario.

She started working in dentistry in 2001 and loves to further her knowledge of dentistry through continuing education. She's a great team member and provides excellent patient care.

A few of her interest include cooking, reading, playing tennis and spending time with her family.

Tamara Van Clieaf

Tamara joined Dr. Barakat's team at Dentisty @ Main in 2005. Growing up all over Canada due to a military background, she is very happy to have settled with her husband in Stittsville.

Tamara was educated in Science, Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene at Cambrian College in Sudbury Ontario. She is extremely dedicated to providing patients with the utmost of quality care, in a gentle and relaxed manner. She is continuously refining her skills as a Dental Hygienist through continuing education, which is one her passions as she loves to learn.

One of Tamara's future goals is to become a Restorative Dental Hygienist, which would allow her to work along side Dr. Barakat to provide routine restorative procedures to our patients as well.

A few of Tamara's many interests include relaxing with a good book, cooking and travelling with her husband.
