A dental bridge, also sometimes called a partial fixed denture, is used to replace lost or missing adult teeth. It may replace one tooth, or may also be used to replace a series of adjoining teeth. A dental bridge is not used to repair a damaged tooth which can be protected with a tooth crown; however, it may be required if the tooth is so badly damaged or decayed that it must be extracted.

Dental Bridges vs. Dental Implants
Dental bridges are the traditional form of tooth replacement. However, a dental implant is often preferred over a dental bridge because it looks more like a natural tooth and you can care for it exactly as your natural teeth, including flossing around it. You cannot floss between the false tooth and supporting crowns of a dental bridge because of its construction.
Structure of a Dental Bridge
The structure of a dental bridge consists of one or more false teeth supported on one or both sides by tooth crowns. The sides of the false tooth and tooth crown are connected. As a result, a dental bridge may be more easily recognized than a dental implant. However, in some instances, a dental bridge may be preferable to a dental implant. Porcelain and Metal-Free Dental Bridges

- Less sensitive to cold and heat
- Shaped like natural teeth
- Tinted to match your surrounding natural teeth
- Capable of being used like your natural teeth for chewing, etc.
