  • CEREC CAD/CAM for dental crowns and porcelain inlays and onlays
  • Digital radiographs (X-rays) to minimize your radiation exposure
  • Intraoral camera
  • Waterlase iPlus™ laser for gum recontouring, root canals, fillings etc.
  • Ezlase laser for periodontal therapy
  • K7 evaluation system for TMD
  • TENS unit for neuromuscular treatment
  • Televisions in ceiling for viewing pleasure.
  • Florida Probe periodontal evaluation system
  • Surgically Clean Air purifiers

Each of these technologies has a specialized application which allows Ottawa cosmetic dentist Dr. Ami Barakat to provide you with the quickest, safest, and most aesthetically pleasing dental treatments and restorations.

Cadent iTero®

Cadent iTero technology allows Dr. Barakat to conduct a digital impression of your crown and bridge area during your visit. This eliminates the need for the old tray and putty procedure. This technology captures images of your tooth surfaces and gum areas. It then sends the complete scan to the computer which builds a 3D model of your teeth. This allows for superior, consistent results with less time at the dentist office.

CEREC CAD/CAM

The CEREC system is a sculpting machine which creates porcelain restorations inside our office, often while you wait. This eliminates the need for a dental lab and can reduce the amount of time you must wait for your dental restoration from days and even weeks to minutes. CEREC can be used for:

  • Porcelain and resin inlays and onlays
  • Porcelain tooth crowns

CEREC offers you the following benefits:

  • A single-appointment restoration
  • Less time spent in the dental chair
  • A natural-looking filling
  • A healthier, metal-free filling
  • No messy impressions or ill-fitting temporaries
  • A restoration that is anti-abrasive, bio-compatible, and resistant to plaque
  • A durable restoration – CEREC fillings don’t break or leak like traditional fillings
  • Proven technology – ten years of clinical research and over four million restorations performed to support the effectiveness of this technology

Digital Radiographs

Digital radiographs, or X-rays, make the X-ray process simpler and safer. With digital X-rays, you are exposed to significantly less radiation than with traditional ones, and there is no development time required for film. Dr. Barakat simply:

  • Uses the digital X-ray camera to take exposures
  • Views the images on a TV screen moments later

Digital X-rays provide a more complete image of the structure of the tooth than traditional X-rays. They offer the following benefits over traditional X-rays:

  • Faster
  • Safer (no chemical development and less radiation)
  • We can view images instantly
  • We can enhance images to improve viewing
  • Images can be stored electronically and emailed to specialists and insurance companies

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a highly advanced innovation in dentistry that allows us to get a close-up view inside your mouth. The intraoral camera hand piece is approximately the size and shape of a dental mirror. It has a built-in light source, providing us with easy-to-see pictures.

The camera enables us to Pola Office+ in on one tooth or take a video tour of your entire mouth. The images are displayed on a computer monitor so that we can view them together and discuss your dental health issues. Once we’ve treated your dental condition, the intraoral camera lets you see, up close, your beautiful, healthy teeth and gums.

Images captured with an intraoral camera can be printed out for you to take home or for us to store with your dental record. They can also be sent to specialists.

Waterlase iPlus™ and Ezlase™ Lasers

Dr. Barakat uses the Waterlase iPlus™ and Ezlase lasers for procedures such as:

  • Cavity and filling removal
  • Gum recontouring
  • Periodontal therapy
  • Dental cleaning

These lasers almost always lead to quicker healing, less bleeding, and less post-operative pain.

Waterlase iPlus™ combines laser energy and a mild stream of water to perform your procedure. There is no heat, vibration, or pressure, enabling Dr. Barakat to use less anesthetic. In many cases, no anesthetic is needed, enabling your procedures to be completed much quicker. The Waterlase iPlus™ laser results in greater precision and accuracy, enabling us to provide you with higher quality treatments.

Florida Probe

The system designed by Florida Probe enables us to measure gum disease as well as periodontal health. The system provides graphs and charts which make data collection easy to understand, so we can help you see how your gum health is impacted by treatment.

The Florida Probe system enables Dr. Barakat to offer you more effective treatments for advanced gum health issues, which ultimately helps protect your teeth against decay and tooth loss.

K7 System and TENS Unit

We use the K7 system and TENS unit to help diagnose and treat issues caused by temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). By using these advanced neuromuscular dentistry tools, we can provide you with pain-free living and tooth health that will last for the rest of your life.

Surgically Clean Air Purifiers/Sterilizers

Dentistry at Main is committed to providing our patients with the safest and cleanest environment possible for all of their dental treatments. To accomplish this goal, we use Surgically Clean Air purifiers and sterilizers. These devices combine the most effective air sterilization and purification technologies in the world, ensuring that the purification system exceeds international standards. Surgically Clean Air purifiers employ six stages of air sterilization and purification – four capture stages for particulate matter and two kill stages for volatile organic compounds, bacteria, and viral infectious agents.

These and other dental technologies are available at Dentistry at Main. Please contact our Ottawa cosmetic dentist today to learn more about advanced dentistry available to residents of Ottawa, Stittsville, and Kanata, Ontario.
