Porcelain Veneer Options

Serving Kanata, Stittsville and Ottawa, Ontario

Ottawa Dental Veneers - Kanata Lumineers

Because there are so many cosmetic dentistry problems that can be corrected with porcelain veneers, the options available to you when considering this treatment are quite expansive. Whether you want to correct just one tooth or wish to create a completely new smile, porcelain veneers offer you flexibility in achieving your cosmetic dentistry goals.

Custom Porcelain Veneers

One option which is often the most appealing to cosmetic dentistry patients is custom porcelain veneers. Completely custom porcelain veneers may be created in virtually any size or shape that you would like. Ottawa cosmetic dentist Dr. Ami Barakat frequently uses Empress porcelain veneers to create custom smiles for his patients, or he may offer Cristal® porcelain veneers for more conservative changes.

Lumineers®

Lumineers are a brand of porcelain veneers known for their ease of application. Lumineers are frequently placed directly over unprepared teeth to create a new smile. Dr. Barakat is trained to work with Lumineers, but he prefers not to use them because they are so thin that there are very few instances where they are not prone to breakage.

Number of Teeth Treated

Because porcelain veneers are individually created thin pieces of porcelain affixed to the front of your teeth, they may be used on just one tooth, or they may cover several teeth to create a completely new look. You may choose to have only one porcelain veneer placed if you have one tooth which is out of alignment or misshapen. The extensiveness of your treatment will be determined at your initial consultation.

Shape of Porcelain Veneers

Teeth are not all shaped alike, and as a result, porcelain veneers can be created to conform to whatever style of tooth you would like. Some teeth are more square than others, and some more oval-shaped. When you are discussing your options with Dr. Barakat, he will help you decide which shape is right for your smile.

Colour of Porcelain Veneers

Although we think of our teeth as white, even the whitest smiles have some tint to them. Porcelain veneers can be tinted to match your surrounding teeth, or you may choose to have porcelain veneers which are whiter than your natural teeth. Your colour options will be discussed at your initial consultation.

Porcelain veneers do not respond to teeth whitening treatments, you may want to consider having your teeth whitened before the application of your veneers to ensure uniformity in colour between treated and untreated teeth.
